How's the market? We're probably asked that question more than any other. Jobseekers want to know, clients (companies that hire employees and contractors from us) want to know, and people who just want to know what they could be making if they were working somewhere else want to know. And, chances are, we have a better chance at answering the question that anyone else.
This isn't because we're especially smart, it's because we talk to 50-100 employers who use ECM technologies every week, and we never fail to ask if they're hiring or if they need contractors.
And up until recently, we've found that the market for Documentum professionals stunk
with the exception of the Documentum and Sharepoint combination.
The market for OpenText was erratic.
The market for Sharepoint was good.
We think that that's now slowly beginning to change (for the better). Of course, the graphs won't show that for a while; but the clients we've spoken to are starting new projects some of which will take a full year to complete. And while this, of course, is good news for Documentum and OpenText professionals, the growth we see is in highly specialized areas such as Documentum + Adobe Flex, Documentum + SOA, Documentum + DOD Clearance, and OpenText + Web Publishing and so on. Sharepoint is continuing to grow at lightning speed.
Now as this growth happens and growth combinations change from day to day, if you're considering making a change, we invite you to call us and tell us what kind of ECM technologies you've been working with of late. While we're on the phone a good 80% of each day, we're going to keep our phones open (973) 744-8164 for inquiries on Wednesdays from 12-5 PM. So, if you're looking for work or a new project and you haven't spoken to us in the past few weeks, call; but send your resume first (even if you're sure we have it). It's fine to send it earlier in the week, even once every two weeks if you'd like. That way, you'll be fresh in our minds as the job orders come in.
You might note that we often call "sure hits" before we post jobs to the web, so it's important that we get to know you or get reacquainted with you. Of the last three people we placed, one of them called at least once a week. He sent us links to jobs he thought he could do; and, then one day, we had a "sure hit" in our hands, and he got "the" job he'd been hoping for after a single interview. And I'm happy to say it's a good job, a step up both financially and in terms of responsibility.
So, if you want to "up" your chances of us placing you when the right opportunity comes along, call or e-mail one of us to remind us that you're there.

In the case of Open Text most job postings seem to still use historic product names like Livelink and eDOCS.
